In a heartwarming display of newfound freedom, two rescued tigers, Carli and Lily, dipped their paws into the water for the first time.
Their journey began when they were liberated from deplorable conditions in Buffalo, New York, where they had spent 12 long years in a dilapidated cage that had lost its license due to neglect.

At Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary in Nevada, the 12-year-old tigers have been granted a second chance at life. For the first time, they can experience the joys of being wild animals.
Kelly Donithan, representing the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), had the privilege of witnessing Carli and Lily’s inaugural swim.
Despite the common belief that cats dislike water, tigers possess a unique affinity for it.
“Most people think cats don’t like water, which is mostly true. Except that tigers love to play, sing, and bathe in the water,” remarked Donithan.
As they ventured into the pool, Lily’s instincts kicked in, and she effortlessly embraced the aquatic environment as if it were a natural extension of her habitat. It’s a sight to behold, considering tigers’ renowned fondness for water.
The transformation from captive animals to free-spirited swimmers showcases the resilience of these majestic creatures. It serves as a reminder of the importance of providing them with proper care and habitats where they can thrive.
